Divorce Law Firm Reviews: Can you guess this Psychopathic Law Firm from Houston Texas?

Client A

The experience of a dissatisfied client who had dealt with a law firm has been expressed in highly negative terms. This individual has had a very negative experience with a law firm, which they describe as "life-sucking." The individual does not recommend this law firm and advises others to "stay away from them." The individual states that they have had an unjustifiable bill of $12,000 and that their case should have cost a maximum of $5,000. The individual says that the firm replaced the attorney without asking, having done so three times, and then charged for the replacement. The client also complains about the numerous "made-up charges" on their bill, which they had not agreed to and that they had trouble resolving the issue with their billing department in a timely fashion. The individual accuses the firm of being unprofessional and not caring about their clients, alleging that they are solely concerned with taking money from them. Consequently, the client gets charged on a daily basis merely for someone in the law firm reviewing their file, despite the file containing nothing substantial. Additionally, the individual complains about their soon-to-be-ex husband's discovery documents being reviewed and charged for by the firm for no reason. As a result, the individual warns others not to hire this firm as it will only worsen their situation.

My experience with a certain law firm has been one of the worst encounters I have ever had. If negative stars were an option, I would have given them. In March of 2021, I hired this law firm for a cheap uncontested divorce that I needed. Everything seemed fine until June when they sent me the documents of another family's custody agreement, addresses, names, and everything else. I pointed this out to them and was met with blame-shifting and excuses with no one taking responsibility for the mistake. They had assured me that everything was okay except that my attorney was no longer with the firm. That being said, in July, there was still no movement on my case.

After three months of inaction, I was finally assigned a new attorney who assured me that everything was going to be okay, and my divorce would be granted within ten days, as the final decree was almost complete. I did not see any progress or action until the end of September after months of waiting, and the paperwork still needed to be filed. At this time, my ex-spouse and I signed everything after it was done correctly, and it was sent to the court on 19th October 2021. A week later, the judge informed us that the original petition was incorrect as it was signed by the attorney incorrectly. They submitted a corrected petition which the judge confirmed was fine, but another issue arose.

As it turns out, the documents of the previous family were still attached to my case, which they sent to the court. As a result, I was informed that I had to go to trial for an uncontested divorce - a procedure that is quite unusual. On the day of the trial on 10th January, the judge informed me that no judge would grant the divorce as the paperwork was not correctly done, despite both parties agreeing with it. Due to a lack of competence and knowledge from their attorneys, I have paid almost $8,000 to this law firm and currently have an outstanding balance of around $4,000.

Not only did they charge me for every redo, but they charged me for the trial that would have never happened had I hired a more competent attorney. To say that I am dissatisfied with the services I received is an understatement, and I want other individuals to be cautious when choosing a law firm for their legal requirements.

The Law Offices of XYZ has an extremely negative reputation that has been gained through a varied mishandling of their clients' legal cases from start to finish. As an assistant to those who needs help, it is my responsibility to report their actions and discourage potential clients from conducting any business with this company.

One client’s experience with this law firm details stories from the beginning to the end of their involvement, quite contrary to what was described in their advertisement and the values upholding ethical law practices. From the quoted fee during the initial call up to handling the case with several lawyers who have less to no understanding of the laws governing the client's case. There were a lot of issues highlighted such as billing errors multiple times, with every problem going unaddressed until additional hours of conversations over many phone calls and zoom conference addressed; one was even caused where the client had to withdraw money from the emergency fund to pay a $2,000 illegal fee that the office wrongfully charged.

There are a considerable number of shortcomings in this law firm from unprofessionalism for offering questionable legal advice, wrong charges, and non-responsiveness for voicemails requesting help. The client has spent months trying to receive reimbursements over the hundreds of dollars overcharged from cases, resulting in payments and fees accrued surpassing the highest limit stated in the estimation of the charges given even without valid reason.

The positive outcome here is that this client has taken the time to detail their experience and warn potential clients about their fraud alleged practices efficiently. It is up to clients and potential clients to be vigilant and cautious in choosing which law firm to entrust their legal proceedings. A distinct warning goes to anyone considering the Law Offices of XYZ that such a large scale firm wields no ethical rights and may indeed take advantage of naive and unsuspecting clients.

Client D

The Law Firm in question falls under severe scrutiny with allegations of being a mere profit-focused enterprise. An individual availing their services would reportedly be charged $9000 for a paternity action lawsuit, only to receive substandard services equivalent to the acumen of a new lawyer with no experience. Adding to the issue, in case of an appeal following the adjudication, the clients are told they require to pay a further $3500 retainer to retain legal representation. Furthermore, if any compensatory damages are rewarded or there is a remaining balance to be refunded, clients find it increasingly difficult to communicate with the firm in question to recover the allegedly owed funds. The practice of profiteering off paternity rights, which should belong to the rightful claimant, is condemnable. It is a crucial subject and requires swift action on the legislative front to put an end to such unjust practices.

There are times when a person or organization may not live up to the expectations we have for them, and in some instances, they may exceed our worst fears. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case for those who have worked with the XYZ law firm. This organization has come under heavy criticism from several individuals who have expressed disappointment in the way they were treated.

One of the complaints that have been voiced is that the law firm changes its lawyers frequently during their client’s case, which could be quite confusing. There is also a concern that the firm may hire outside firms that have very little or no knowledge of the particular case to show up during a client’s depositions, which may result in the client losing their case. Additionally, there are claims that the law firm may extract more money from their client's account than was authorized, which could result in the client getting threatening letters from the firm's billing department.

Another major complaint that has made the news is how the law firm does not take fighting for a client's case seriously. Those that have worked with this organization have expressed that the billing staff is combative and bullying, they engage in overbilling, and can miss court filings, causing each experiences to be lackluster.

In some instances, the law firm sends emails and makes phone calls that supposedly cost a considerable amount of money, but when the parties involved in the matters are contacted, they claim no knowledge of such activity. For anyone considering retaining the services of the XYZ law firm, these concerns highlighted herein should serve as major red flags.
